Who We Are:

Vista Engineering Inc was founded to develop manufacturing technologies and provide consulting and engineering services in materials and metallurgical engineering. The company has a solution for the problem of manufacturing cutting tools used to machine advanced aluminum alloys for automotive, boat and small utility engines. Vista's patented process applies an extremely hard, ultra-smooth coating of diamond material, 10-100 micron thick, to tungsten carbide tools. Vista operates one of the largest microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition reactors in the United States.

Ultra-Smooth Nanostructured Diamond Films

• Nanostructured diamond coatings on WC-Co inserts have a number of significant advantages over PCD inserts: coating of complicated tool geometries, improved chip removal, deeper cuts, lower cost.

• Nanostructured diamond (NSD) is a composite carbon material, which consists of nano-crystals of diamond (3-20 nm, 30-60 vol%) embedded into a hard amorphous diamond like carbon matrix.

• Ultra-smooth NSD films of high hardness (65-80 GPa) and extremely low surface roughness (10-20 nm, RMS) can be grown by MPCVD technique on different substrates of interest: Si, Ti, Ti-6Al-4V, TiC, WC, …
